The contract is a definitive legal document drafted by the seller’s conveyancer that outlines details of the transactions such as the parties involved, the property being sold, property tenure, title guarantee and the purchase price.

Before contracts are signed, either party can typically walk away without major financial penalty. Once both parties have signed and their conveyancing formally exchange, the agreement becomes legally binding and walking away carries severe financial and legal consequences.
