GLOSSARY
TENANTS IN COMMON
Tenants in Common is an option for co-owning a property where two or more individuals hold distinct, separate shares of the property, which do not have to be equal (e.g., 70/30 or 50/50).
Unlike joint tenancy, there is no right of survivorship. If one owner passes away, their specific share does not automatically go to the surviving co-owner. Instead, it passes according to the terms of their will or the rules of intestacy.
This option is frequently chosen by unmarried buyers, friends purchasing together, or individuals contributing unequal financial deposits.
